The Interdependence of Music: The Theology of Jon Batiste

Music-making defines interdependence and Jon Batiste has hit the world stage honoring musical legacies from jazz, blues, hip-hop, bounce, funk to pop and rounds it all out with classical music training. He comes from a family of famous New Orleans musicians and studied at Julliard. Whether you have never heard of him, know him from being the band leader on the Late Show with Stephen Colbert, discovered his music in the Pixar film Soul, or met him through the powerful documentary American Symphony, you will leave with a few ideas how of how to apply this powerful artist’s lessons to your own life.

I sense in RevD a serious effort to review where UUCW is at this challenging point, coming out of a pandemic and with budget challenges. She is taking full advantage of her brief time as full-time minister to triage major tasks, envision new and creative ways to engage church members, and prioritize future developments within a tough budget forecast
